Dr. Kim E. Costello, Psy.D., LMHC, FAPA, DAPA, BCPC, CEDS
After working for many years as a guidance counselor at both the elementary, and secondary education levels, in 2006, Dr. Kim E. Costello launched her career by opening a full-time private practice.
"I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being we desire contentment. In my own limited experience, I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being."
Dr. Costello has been deeply committed to seeing children, adults, and families reach their full potential by striving for life-long happiness, and success. The focus of her practice extends beyond mental health to academic excellence for young people of all ages, with a heavy emphasis on helping high school, and early college students enhance their abilities, and knowledge for better scholastic achievement as well as eventual long-term career success.
Dr. Costello's holistic approach to helping people goes far beyond services offered in her practice. She is also a published author with three books that promote family communication, overall well-being, and self-awareness. Great Monkeys All Are We, is a children's book, co-written with her daughter, Ashlee B. Cooper," designed to help children increase their self-awareness in terms of how they are viewed by others.
Her second book, Heartstrings - The Parent-Child Connection, is a "handbook" that shows parents how to look beyond behavior straight into the heart of their children. By doing so, parents are able to build a bridge over the "chasm" that often divides them from their children, and better understand the role they play in their children's lives.
Her latest book, Dash the Sea Turtle, coauthored with her husband, Frank Costello, is a children's book that promotes individual characteristics in children, and how it is okay to be yourself, despite what other's may think. This book shows children the importance of values, and self-worth, and how to find their inner strength
Dr. Costello is a Board Certified Counselor, and is a member of the American Board of Professional Counselors.
She resides in St. Petersburg with her husband, and children.
